In one of my first Green projects, I juxtaposed an object with other graphic forms that communicates a social, natural or other conceptual context in which the object is a focal point. Returning to the design of the light bulb, I wanted to incorporate elements of Green thinking and technology. First, I wanted to focus on the organic colors and designs of nature to create a social message of thinking Green as a real and sustainable project of the design industry. Essentially, I used my design of an environmentally friendly florescent bulb to create a bouquet comprised entirely of bulb flowers, which has all the dynamic color wavelengths of a prism. The positioning of the light bulb and flowers highlights both objects' function in converting energy--the flowers using photosynthesis and the bulb using electricity. Further, each bulb is tethered by a phrase that speaks to Green thinking and design. Ostensibly, I envision my work as having real use in a Green campaign that incorporates vivid color, forward thinking and social responsibility. |
